Best padel rackets for women

Women's rackets are mostly lighter versions of unisex models. Choose by weight, balance and core, then use the shortlist to find models to demo.

In short

Women's padel rackets are usually lighter versions of unisex models, listed at about 300–360 g. Choose by the same specs as any racket: round and low balance for control, teardrop or hybrid for a balance of control and power. Many women play unisex rackets in the mid-350s. The shortlist shows brands' own women's models.

What is different about women's padel rackets?

Most women's rackets are versions of a brand's existing models with a lower listed weight, different graphics and sometimes a softer core or a slightly different balance. The shape and materials are usually the same as the unisex model. That means the right way to choose is exactly the same as for any racket: start from your level and how you win points, then pick the weight and balance you can control.

In Valor's racket database, the models brands sell as women's lines list weights from about 300 g to 360 g. Many women play comfortably with unisex rackets in the mid-350s, and some men prefer a women's model for the lower weight. Treat the label as a filter, not a rule.

How heavy should a women's padel racket be?

Choose the heaviest racket you can swing fully and still bring back in time on fast volleys. For many adult women that lands somewhere in the 340–360 g range; lighter frames make sense for players returning from injury, for smaller hands and wrists, or for players who play many long matches in a row. Remember that an overgrip and protective tape add several grams to the listed weight.

Balance matters as much as weight. A light racket with a high balance can feel heavier at the head than a slightly heavier racket with a low balance. If you are unsure, hold both at the end of the handle and make slow swings; the one that feels easier at the tip will be easier to defend with.

Which women's rackets match the specs?

The list below includes only rackets the brand itself sells as women's models, from Valor's database of published specs. Beginner and intermediate listings come first. If nothing here suits your level, the beginner and intermediate shortlists include unisex models in similar weight ranges.

How this list is chosen: sold by the brand as a women's model; junior models excluded. Beginner and intermediate listings come first, then lighter rackets. It shows up to 3 rackets per brand from the 16 matching rackets in Valor's database of 141, using published specs from each manufacturer. Expert-review scores will appear here once a racket has at least three independent reviews; none on this list qualify yet. It is not a quality ranking: Valor has not court-tested these rackets. List prices are from the brand's own site on the date shown and change often.

Should you choose control or power?

The same logic applies as for any player. If you are newer or tend to be late on balls from the back glass, a round racket with a low or medium balance and a soft core will give you more time. If you already finish points at the net, a teardrop or hybrid with medium balance adds pace without making defense much harder. Diamond shapes are worth considering only once defense is consistently reliable.

How should you test a racket before buying?

Borrow or rent it for a full session, not five minutes. Weight differences that feel tiny in the shop show up after an hour of volleys, and the right racket is the one your wrist still feels comfortable with at the end of a long match. Try it on lobs from the back glass, fast volleys and a few controlled overheads, and compare it with the racket you play now.

How do you avoid arm and shoulder strain?

Lighter is not automatically gentler. Very light rackets can twist on off-center hits, which some players feel in the wrist and elbow. A moderate weight, a lower balance and a softer core are the usual comfort combination. Warm up your shoulder before matches, keep your grip relaxed between shots and see a medical professional if pain persists; our arm-comfort guide covers the specs in more detail.

Common questions

Do women need a women's padel racket?

No. Women's models are usually lighter versions of unisex rackets. Choose by weight, balance, shape and core; many women play unisex rackets and some men play women's models.

What weight padel racket is best for women?

Many adult women play well in the 340–360 g range, but the right weight is the heaviest one you can swing fully and still react with at the net.

Are women's padel rackets easier to play?

They are usually lighter, which can make them quicker to maneuver. Whether they are easier depends on balance and core as well; a light racket with a high balance can still feel demanding.

Is a lighter racket better for preventing injury?

Not always. Very light rackets can twist on off-center hits. A moderate weight with a low balance and a soft core is the more common comfort choice.

What grip size should I choose?

Padel rackets mostly come in one handle size; players adjust thickness with overgrips. Add or remove overgrips until your fingers just reach around without squeezing.
